WAGIN HISTORICAL VILLAGE

wagin historical villageStarted by volunteers with a few pieces of old machinery in 1978, this village has grown to be the largest and best social history museum in Western Australia.

There are 26 buildings that house the history of the region. Four of the historic buildings - the School, the Bank, the Quarantine Ward and the hall were relocated. Other buildings such as the stone church were specially constructed in keeping with the period and methods used.

There is a large collection of restored tractors, engines, shearing plants, farming implements, wagons, drays, carts and sulkies.

As well as being visited each day of the week, visitors flock to the Village during Woolorama (March each year) and on Foundation Day (June) when the gates of the Village are open with free admission. There is fun and festivities with local stalls and produce markets, vintage cars, a pioneer recognition ceremony, a flag raising ceremony and the placing of a plaque on the unmarked grave of a pioneer.

Open daily from 10am to 4pm - 7 days a week (except Good Friday and Christmas Day) Devonshire teas served on Sundays. Group tours are catered for with pioneer lunches. School groups a speciality.
